Imbedded in a beautiful savannah in the center of the country, we find the town of Zipaquirá, the authentic village of salt.
It is located at an altitude of 2650 meters above sea level and about an hour by car from Bogota. Its proximity to the capital gives it a certain importance in the educational, historical and tourist cultural field.
Even from its origins, they came to the Indians of Nemocón, Tocancipá and Gachancipá, for the precious «white gold» as it was known to salt
For this experience we have the option to travel in our private tourism vehicle or if it is Saturday, Sunday or holiday we can travel in the typical train of the savannah.
During the tour we will be able to observe the colorful savannah of Bogota, decorated with its multiple crops and green mountains and if the route is made by train, we will also be able to see the old train stations which were the forced passage of merchandise as well as travelers towards the capital. With modernity these old train stations have entered into disuse.
Once in the cathedral, carved inside an immense saline dome, we will descend about 33 meters in a walk of 2 kilometers, along which we will see the viacrucis with its 14 stations carved in the old salt extraction galleries, the dome and the 3 imposing naves that conform the cathedral, to reach a maximum depth of 180 meters below ground in relation to the tip of the mountain.
On Sundays the Holy Mass is celebrated at noon in the chapel of the Virgen de Guasá, protector of the miners, located to one side of the cathedral. In the afternoon we will return to Bogotá in our private tourism vehicle by the train, that passes through the towns of Cajicá and La Caro.

Von einer wunderschönen Hochebenenlandschaft umgeben, befindet sich die Stad Zipaquirá, die Stadt des Salzes.
Sie befindet sich auf einer Höhe von 2650 Metern über NN und ungefähr 1 Stunde Autofahrt von Bogotá entfernt. Iher Nähe zur Haupstadt hat sie es zu verdanken, dass sie ein wichtiges historisches, kulturelles und Turismusziel ist.
Sogar seit ihrem Ursprung wurde die Stad von Indianern aus verschiedenen Städten wie Nemocón, Tocancipá y Gachancipá, besucht, um das „weisse Gold“, wie man damals das Salz nannte, zu besorgen
Morgens starten wir in Bogotá und fahren Richtung Norden in die Stadt Zipaquirá, wo sich die Salzkathedrale befindet. Diese wird als das wichtigste Wunder Kolumbiens betrachtet und sie ist in ganz Amerika eizigartig (Nur eine weitere Salzkathedrale gibt es in Polen, in Krakow).
Wir fahren in einem privaten Turismusauto, aber wenn es Samstag, Sonntag oder Feiertag ist, besteht die Möglichkeit mit dem Turismuszug die Stadt zu erkunden.
Während der Fahrt können wir die bunte Savanne von Bogotá beobachten, die mit verschiedenen Pflanzungen und Bergen beschmückt ist. Wenn aber die Fahrt mit dem Zug gemacht wird, können wir die alten Banhöfe sehen, die früher als obligatorische Durchgänge sowohl für Waren als auch für Passagiere galten. Diese Banhöfe, werden heutzutage nicht mehr benutzt.
In der Slazkathedrale angekommen, die in einem riesengrossen Salzdom geschlagen wurde, werden wir 33 Meter in die Tiefe hinabsteigen und insgesamt 2 Kilometer laufen. Auf dem Weg, betrachten wir die 14 Sationen des Kreuzweges, die in den alten Schächtern eingearbeitet wurden, die Kuppel und die drei imposanten Schiffe der Kathedrale. Letztendlich befinden wir uns 180 Metern unter der Erde, im Bezug auf die Bergspitze.
Sonntags wird immer mittags in der Kapelle der Rosenkranzmadonna von Guasá eine Andacht gehalten.Nachmittags fahren wir dann wieder zurück nach Bogotá, entweder mit unserem privaten Auto, oder mit dem Zug, mit dem wir noch durch kleine Städtchen wie Cajicá und La Caro durchfahren. Zusätzlich besteht auch die Möglichkeit, ein Mittagessen in Zipaquirá zu organisieren, bevor wir wieder zurückfahren.
