Itinerary

Day 1: Bogotá arrival (-/-/-)

Today we will arrive in the city of Bogotá. At the airport, our guide will be awaiting to take us to the hotel located in the city center. After checking in, if there is some time to spare, we might start with some of the activities originally planned for the second day.

Day 2: Bogotá (B/-/-)

After breakfast we will start the full day city tour visiting the Paloquemao market, which is one of the biggest fruit and vegetable markets in the city. We will visit the Gold museum (closed on Mondays) and marvel at the graffitis, carefully elaborated by local and international artists. We can visit optional de Botero Museum Return to hotel, dinner and overnight

Day 3: Salt Cathedral – Villa de Leyva (B/-/-)

After breakfast, we will drive about one and a half hours to Zipaquirá. Here we will have the opportunity to see the wonderful salt Cathedral carved into an old salt mine 80 meters underground.  After this, we will continue to Villa de Leyva, stopping on the way to have lunch. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel and a stroll on the cobbled streets and enjoying the beautiful colonial architecture, which has been carefully preserved

Day 4: Villa de Leyva (B/-/-)

Today early in the morning we will leave towards the town of Arcabuco an hour away, to visit the recovered forest in a private reserve, there we will be able to walk along the trails observing its wonderful nature and discovering why it is a destination for bird watchers. In the afternoon on the way back we will pass through the Vinyard, where we can participate in the tasting of locally produced wines and cheeses.

Day 5: Coffee triangle (B/-/-)

Today we will drive back to Bogotá (5 hours) to take a flight to Armenia or Pereira. Then transfer to the hotel and rest, free afternoon up to the our of the flight

Day 6: Salento and Cocora Valley (B/-/-)

After breakfast, we will drive to Salento and hop on a traditional Willys jeep, in which we will drive to the Cocora Valley. Here we will hike through luscious green landscapes, admiring the wax palm trees, that can reach a hight of over 70 meters. A lunch with trout is a must in this region, before we head back to Salento for a city tour. Drive back to our hotel in Armenia and rest.

Day 7: Coffee tour and Buenavista (B/-/-)

Today we will visit the coffee farm, to take part of a tour in which we will learn the complete process of coffee, starting with the seed and ending with a tasting of a marvelous cup of freshly made coffee. Afterwards we will drive to the townships of Buenavista and Cordoba to enjoy this village and its culture

Day 8: Armenia – Medellín (B/-/-)

Today we will be transfered to the airport to take our flight to Medellín. Upon arrival, we will start our city tour through the city of eternal spring, visiting the Comuna 13, the historical center and taking a ride on the cable metro and the cities’ metro to take in the cities’ atmosphere

Day 9: Guatapé &  Peñol (B/-/-)

After an approximate drive of two hours, we will arrive in Guatapé, a picturesque little township, which charms us with its colorful decorations on its houses. Then, the brave ones, will climb the 702 steps of the Peñol stone, to be rewarded with the amazing view of the surrounding reservoir. After getting back down, we will take a short drive to the dock to take a boat tour on which we will be able to see some of the remains of the old township of Guatapé, which was systematically flooded to make the reservoir, and an abandoned building of late Pablo Escobar. Return to Medellín and rest.

Day 10: Santa Marta (B/-/-)

Transfer to the Rio Negro airport, Jose Maria Córdova on a 30-minute journey and flight to Santa Marta, city tour at the oldest colonial city of south America and transfer to the hotel in the Tayrona region and check-in to the hotel at the beach.

Day 11: Tayrona Park (B/-/-)

Today we will enjoy a full day at the beautiful and paradisiac Tayrona Park. We will drive to the national park and walk to one of the amazing beaches, to enjoy a relaxing day lying at the beach and dipping into the turquoise water (not all of the beaches are adequate for swimming). In the afternoon we will be picked up by our driver to return to the hotel and rest.

Day 12: Tayrona – Cartagena (B/-/-)

In the morning we will be driving to Cartagena , on a journey of approximately 6 hours. on the route we will have the chance to take a lunch and see the city of Barranquilla. After check in into the hotel we have the option up to the moon, to enjoy a tour to see bioluminescent plankton, which is a natural spectacle we will never forget. Return to the hotel and rest.

Day 13: Cartagena (B/-/-)

Today we will have the opportunity to see the San Felipe Castle and the historic walled city with its amazing architecture. Time to say goodbye. The trip is now over and we will be transferred to the airport to take our flight back home.
